Meet Ganador!
Ganador is a rare Menorcan Stallion from the small island in Spain- Menorca. The island is just 23 miles wide, but over the decades, has produced a unique breed of Iberian horse..Pure Raza Menorqui. These horses are all black (only limited white markings are allowed) and are beautiful movers as well as hearty as a mountain goat.
In Menorca, they are featured in their summer festivals where they perform Menorcan Dressage including the Bot which is a move unique to the breed- this is where they rear up and walk on their hind legs…it is good luck if you touch one while they are doing this and see yourself in one of the mirrors fixed onto their Fiesta Tack.
I discovered the breed almost 9 years ago, when I was visiting the island looking for PREs for a client in the States. I immediately fell in love with the breed. I soon started taking folks thru my network to the island to meet these fantastic horses and the people that love them. Soon I had enough folks interested to help me bring the breed to American. Four years ago, we brought the first group of horses to the States including Zar…a beautiful stallion owned by Melissa Phillips. We have nine horses in the States now including three stallions, one gelding, and the rest are mares. Our first cross will land on the ground this summer, and our first full blooded Menorcan will arrive next year!
Check out our websites to find out more about the breed and how you can be apart of bringing them to the States! We have a not for profit, so we need members as well as folks that can buy and import one of the horses.
